Betsy Markey – The Bailout Queen

Earlier this year Tom Buchanan, chair of Loveland 9-12 Project, invites Besty Markey to speak to his members

Fourth Congressional District Representative Betsy Markey has released her first TV ad in which she states: “Bailouts really offend me” followed later by “Bailout is just another word for cop-out, and here in Colorado that’s not how we do business”.

Lesley Hollywood, director of the Northern Colorado Tea Party, tracked down a Markey staffer at a Windsor based senior community meeting in hopes of getting some questions answered – primarily how Markey reconciles her voting record with the statements made in her latest TV ad.

Simply because Congresswoman Markey’s voting record tells us otherwise.

Markey was not in congress at the time of TARP or the first auto bailouts, but since her time in office she has supported nearly every bill that has taken our country towards corporatism.

Tea Party Candidates Connect with Independent Voters

The People are Speaking

Last Thursday, Rasmussen Reports released the results of a poll on the US Senate Race.  On Friday, another poll was released showing surprising numbers in Colorado’s Governors race.  And just this past weekend, yet another poll was released by Innovative Data Solutions with more stunning numbers.  Here is the synopsis:

Ken Buck versus Michael Bennet

Rasmussen: Buck 46%, Bennet 41%
Innovative Data: Buck 49%, Bennet 37%

Dan Maes versus Tom Tancredo versus John Hickenlooper

Rasmussen: Hickenlooper 43%, Maes 31%, Tancredo 18%
Innovative Data: Hickenlooper 38%, Maes 30%, Tancredo 19%
However in this same poll, a hypothetical match up without Tancredo in the race led to these results:
Maes 42%, Hickenlooper 40%

Generic Congressional Ballot (do you plan to vote Republican or Democrat?)

Rasmussen (nationwide): Republican 46%, Democrat 39%
Innovative Data (Colorado only): Repubilcan 50%, Democrat 32% – WOWZA!

It’s Primary Time in Colorado – GO VOTE!

Your Vote. Your Voice. Your Country.

Tuesday August 10th is primary day here in Colorado.  Currently voter turnout has far exceeded 2006′s mid-term election turnout, and is expected to even break the massive turnout in 2008′s Presidential primary.  Now this is great news - as long as you made sure you are one of those voters.  Through our caucus  system and primary voting, We The People have the ability to ensure the best candidates are on the November ballot.  If you don’t vote and don’t encourage others to vote, you can’t complain in November.

Today (Friday, August 6th) is the last day to mail in your ballots.  If you do not get yours in the mail, don’t fret.  You can still drop it off at various locations on or before Tuesday.  If you are in Larimer County: click here for your drop-off locations.  If you are in Weld County you can drop off mail-in ballots OR if you did not receive a mail-in ballot, you can vote in person: click here for your polling locations.  If you’re in Boulder County: click here for your ballot drop-off locations.  If you live elsewhere in Coloradoclick here to hunt down your polling and ballot drop-off information by county.

Primary Watch – Northern Colorado

As most you are probably aware, we have some hotly contested races on our primary ballots.

US Senate – Republican
Ken Buck vs Jane Norton
There is solid Tea Party support behind Ken Buck in this race.  He cleaned up in a poll conducted  by the NoCo Tea Party before assembly. Colorado

Governor – Republican:
Dan Maes vs Scott McInnis
There is solid Tea Party support behind Dan Maes in this race.

Tom Tancredo has officially announced his run in this race, but he will not be running on the Republican ticket and you will not find him on your primary ballot.  Tancredo will be running on the American Constitution Party ticket and will challenge both the candidate who wins the Republican primary as well as Democrat John Hickenlooper.

An Illegitimate President? Or an Escape from Reality?

Thanks for Nothin'!

As the Tea Party has grown, strengthened, and become more mainstream, the conversation has seen it’s fair share of hiccups.  Although the original Tea Parties held across the USA were in protest to an over-the-top, pork filled piece of legislation passed in early 2009 (AKA: The $787 billion dollar American Reinvestment and Recovery Act), the message quickly began to stray.

Questions began to arise regarding President Barack Obama’s place of birth.  Could this man in the White House, who promised everybody everything, possibly be an illegitimate president?  Could this be a way to stop the impending econimic crisis our country may face if this president was what we all feared – a spendaholic on steroids with control of The Fed?   This new message flooded email boxes, twitter, facebook, blogs.  Conversations stirred.  And many quickly forgot the reason we all originally became street corner protesters in the first place - because our country is in crisis.

Showdown in the Governor’s Race

Tom Tancredo

Tom Tancredo demands McGinnis and Maes step down.

On Thursday, former Congressman Tom Tancredo threw down the gauntlet.  His demands?  Both GOP gubernatorial candidates, Dan Maes and Scott McInnis, must bow out of the governor’s race by high noon on Monday, July 26th and replace the GOP nominee (with himself?).  If the GOP candidates do not meet his demands, he will usurp the nomination of American Constitution Party candidate Benjamin Goss and run on a third party ticket.

Both Dan Maes and Scott McInnis have stated that they have no intentions of leaving the race primary.

In an open letter to Tea Party and 9/12 activists issued back in November, Tom Tancredo issued this statement:

“Some patriots are tempted to launch a third political party or back one of the existing small parties that never attract more than one or two percent of the vote in state races. I strongly believe that such a course is suicidal and would only result in splitting the conservative vote and guaranteeing the re-election of liberals and socialists.”
